Intel Shares Surge as Turnaround Strategy Gains Traction
Intel's stock soared 84% in 2025, outpacing the semiconductor index's 42% rise, as CEO Lip-Bu Tan's restructuring efforts reignited investor confidence. Strategic investments from Nvidia ($5B) and SoftBank ($2B), coupled with U.S. government backing, have fortified the chipmaker's balance sheet. Tan's operational overhaul—including streamlined management and revamped manufacturing—has positioned Intel for a potential server CPU price surge in 2026.
"The near-term dynamics are set up very well," noted Gabelli Funds analyst Ryuta Makino, reflecting the most optimistic sentiment toward Intel in years. At least 10 brokerages have upgraded their outlooks ahead of Thursday's Q4 earnings release.
